I live with my son in a two bed 1 bath apt. I have come up with some ways to cope but I’m sure there are more ideas out there I haven’t thought of.
I use the space under my furniture for storage. You can even buy risers to lift up your sofa for instance creating some space under it where you had none before.
I use over-the-door racks a lot, My shoes are in one and in the pantry I hang up my lunch box. In my son’s room a rack holds all his parade beads, etc.
I have a sturdy bucket in my room and some toilet paper just in case. The bucket serves as mop bucket on cleaning day, a wastebasket most of the time, and a toilet on occasion when I’m desperate and my son is in the bathroom. One item – 3 uses.
Use space in unusual ways — like the little cupboards over the fridge. I don’t need that space for dishes and it’s too hard to access for any item I use a lot, so I store winter blankets up there during the summer, etc.
Still have no room for some of your containers? Pile them in one corner and throw a sheet or blanket over. It will look more like furniture and less like junk.
OK I shared, your turn —- I can always use more ideas!.
I actually heard of people flipping there box spring upside down and storing things init. Then when you need something lift the mattress up and take out what you need. If your box spring has fabric just cut it and make a little flap. I also hang plastic grocery bags on my door knobs for either (trash bags), or everday items I use.
I live in a small place by most standards and we cope just fine.I use those plastic drawers and put them in the closet to store lots of things, pillow cases, sheets.I change them out for the winter clothes and summer clothes so my closet is never too crowded. You can also put a small chest in there. The trick is not to collect up too much clutter to begin with.Hard, as I have a mini libary and throwing out any book is a hard choice.Under bed storage is great!
